Caribbean Shrimp Company Ltd is proud to partner with the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES) and provide a home to relocated Belizean American and Morelet crocodiles.
Our compound offers two enclosures (fresh water and salt water reserves) that provide a home in the crocodile’s natural habitat, while also allowing our visitors the chance to watch and learn about these magnificent creatures, and feed them, from a safe distance! Crocodile Sanctuary at Caribbean Shrimp Company in Belize. Currently, our largest “guest” is George, a 14-foot American crocodile featured to the left. Visits to our sanctuary are free with $10 USD property admission. Crocodile food is available at Captain Hooks Shrimp Restaurant for $5 BZE per bag. Learn all about Belize’s crocodiles with an interpretive croc Tour for just $10 USD. Donations to ACES are encouraged and can be made at Caribbean Shrimp Company office or at Captain Hook’s Restaurant. Did you know that there are less than 20,000 wild American crocodiles left in the world? ACES works to protect these magnificent reptiles by relocating problem crocs away from humans, or transferring them to a permanent sanctuary (such as the pens at Caribbean Shrimp Company Ltd). ACES educates communities on living safely with crocodiles. Problem crocs are usually the result of illegal and irresponsible feeding by humans. ACES conducts research on this threatened species and conducts population and nest monitoring, humane tagging, and habitat viability assessments. Help us take a bite out of extinction!
